Done!

This might be the last post on this blog, I'm not sure. It's a Saturday and we spent all day constructing a fence and the cleaners showed up to clean the inside of the house. As such, the house is just about finished, barring minor fixes and things that we identify at the walkthrough.

Those fixes are not likely to warrant new photos as they'll be small things. I may post more photos of the fence as we work on it or the other appliances as they come in. But essentially, the photos below are of a completed house.

There are a lot of photos as you might expect. If this is my last post, I want to thank you for having interest in our new house. I hope that you'll come see it in person. :)

This is the part of the fence we built today. It'll serve two purposes...keeping the dogs in the yard and also shunting the water coming off the driveway to the left, AWAY from the house.

We walked in through the garage and this is the view of the kitchen from the 'mud room'.

This is another angle of the kitchen, from the morning room. You'll see that the fridge is still missing, it's being delivered early this week.

The great room windows.

The pantry.

The washer and dryer also are expected early this week.

Our kitchen faucet on the island.

The gym/conservatory.

The half bath downstairs.

The second full bathroom upstairs.

The shower and commode, all finally clean and looking nice. We need to put in a shower curtain rod. :P

Thanks for viewing!

Almost done!

Some of you have been impatiently waiting for new photos. So here they are, we've been busy, alright? :P

Meet Brian, our builder. It's probably not in his contract but he's out there today shoveling dirt by hand to try to fill in the holes that a major rain storm made last week. He's a rock star.

And here's the back side of the house. Look close and you may see gutters, which were installed yesterday. The porch railings have also finally been painted.

Moving inside, you'll notice they've removed the paper protecting the laminate floor, but that it's dusty as hell. The cleaners are supposed to show up today, but it may be tomorrow, who knows. You'll also notice the railings have been stained.

Here's the great room looking into the kitchen.

The stairway. Stained wood finally, carpet runners still have some plastic on them and green tape everywhere because they painted the pickets.

The ceiling of the master bedroom is finally white. That's not a ghost up there, it's our ceiling fan being protected from flying paint.

The master bath and you can see the (very dirty) black tile floor finally.

A look down at the laminate flooring in the great room.

The loft and the banisters almost completed.

And here's the front of the house, nearly completed.

And a big ass place from Pope Air Force Base flew overhead while I was out there, so...

Exterior Cement

Cement guys were back recently to put in the exterior walkways and parking pad. Here are the photos!

This is them hard at work on the parking pad.

Finished work, rear of the house. This is the walkway off the back porch to the parking pad. We plan to enter the house from the back almost all the time since it's closer to the parking pad and has fewer steps and is closer to the kitchen. The largish area beyond the steps will initially be home to our grill but eventually will be where the hot tub goes. You can see the wiring box already on the back of the house there.

There's the parking pad and the entire rear of the house. The pad should be able to fit 3 cars pretty easily. There will be a fence to the right here which will form the dog yard and a gate to get in to the back yard.

The front of the house, and the small 'ramps' to get into the garages. We were imaging there'd be more of a slope to them, but as long as the level of the ground comes up to the cement when they're done it'll be fine.

And a walkway from the front garage to the front steps. We mostly put this in here to prevent erosion and to give us a nice garden spot in the front. Since there's a direct door from the garage into the house, it's unlikely we'll walk this path often.

One more step towards being done! Today we hope to see the grader to backfill and make the yard slope nice, instead of the cliff we have currently.

Appliances

After some more waiting and a broken cooktop, we finally have some appliances in place.

Here's the kitchen as it stands currently. Thought I'd start with a wide shot.

Here's the microwave and the cooktop.

A closer view of the cooktop. It's not quite fixed into place yet.

The double oven, finally installed and looking good!

And wow...is that running water in the sink? Yes, we have water in the house. Finally. All the sinks, showers and toilets now work.

And carpet! This looks a little weird because the wood of the stairway hasn't been stained dark yet. It should look nicer when that happens. They also have yet to finish the carpeting on the landings because they need some plywood to raise them up first. That's being done today.

And carpet has been installed all through the upstairs. They're protecting it with plastic sheeting for now.

No carpet in the master bedroom yet because they ordered the wrong size.

Today is the final for electrical and we're hoping for cement guys. More coming!
